101 Domains Domain Information Update ".dm" domains.

Important: When entering your search string don't write “www” or the Dominican domain type, ie. “dm”. Therefore to search “www.101domains.dm” enter “101domains” and nothing else.

The only letters allowed within a domain name are: a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z - 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. Spaces are NOT ALLOWED.

Once the domain is registered

Background

.dm is the country code top-level domain for Dominica.

The ccTLD for Dominica, meaning the Country Code Top-Level Domain, is .dm. It is administrated and managed by the DotDM Corporation and is sponsored by the University of Puerto Rico. The domain name .dm first appeared in the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica in 1997, all due to the Domini Corporation. This was due to the increased use of the Internet which led to a high demand for Domain names. It was set to benefit the nation in both a social and an economic level.

A local presence is not needed to register a .dm Domain name, this meaning that it would be useful for those living in places such as Europe and North America. It makes good use for Travel and Tourism and International Businesses.

Not too long in the past on February 2nd, 2001, two groups signed a Domain Name Services Agreement. These were the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the DotDM Corporation. It was a ten year agreement, opening the domain name to a world-wide audience. Dominica is a sovereign nation. It offers great economic opportunities and this is why it is important that all countries are allow to obtain a .dm domain name. It can open the eyes of people to this wonderful country.

Though not heavily used, there are no restrictions placed on who can register third-level Domain Names. These can be used to make the name more specific to its job. Examples of these can be net.dm and org.dm, yet these along with .com.dm can be automatically included.
